Microsoft Opens New AI Research Hub in London: Hiring Top Talent and Collaborating with OpenAI

Microsoft is opening a new AI research and development office in London, UK.
The tech company plans to hire "exceptional individuals" in the coming weeks and months, but the number of jobs has not been specified.

Microsoft is a significant investor in OpenAI, which also has a London office.

The AI talent pool in the UK is large, and Microsoft aims to make a long-term investment in the region by hiring top AI scientists and engineers.

Microsoft's AI boss, Mustafa Suleyman, previously co-founded DeepMind in the UK, which was acquired by Google in 2014.

In 2022, Sam Suleyman founded Inflection AI and later joined Microsoft.

He announced the opening of Microsoft AI London, led by Jordan Hoffmann, focusing on advancing language models and infrastructure.

Suleyman praised the UK's "safety-first" approach to AI and the recent collaboration agreement with the US.

Viscount Camrose, the UK's minister for AI, expressed confidence in the UK's global leadership in AI innovation, with over 50,000 employees and a £3.7 billion contribution to the economy.

Microsoft's AI division, led by Mr. Suleyman, is attracting top talent and businesses globally due to its pro-innovation approach.

Microsoft has heavily invested in OpenAI and plans to expand its partnership with them, reportedly with a "multi-year, multi-billion" investment.

Microsoft has also shown support for OpenAI's CEO during his recent removal and reinstatement.

The new UK office for Microsoft AI will collaborate closely with OpenAI staff, adding to London's growing tech ecosystem.

Microsoft has become the world's most valuable listed company with a market value over $3tn.

A tech company announced the opening of its London office, which was described as a significant show of confidence in the UK by the company's executive.

The executive also emphasized the importance of the UK staying at the forefront of AI research and innovation to maintain its position as a leading tech ecosystem.

AI is already contributing to increased efficiency and creativity in workplaces.
