He also reaffirmed his commitment to Scottish independence and climate goals, criticizing Prime Minister Sunak's stance on oil drilling.

Speaking to the BBC's Nick Robinson, Swinney criticized Labour for allegedly supporting Conservative-planned cuts, a claim Labour denies.
Swinney highlighted that in Scotland, individuals earning above £28,850 are taxed more than in the rest of the UK, helping to bridge the fiscal gap.
He emphasized the benefits such as free university tuition and prescriptions.
His comments are backed by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), but Labour’s Ian Murray insists there will be no austerity under Labour.
Swinney, recently back in frontline politics, also addressed concerns about SNP's recent challenges and reaffirmed his commitment to Scottish independence and climate goals, criticizing Prime Minister Sunak's stance on oil drilling.
He also spoke on transgender rights legislation blocked by the UK government.
