MATT Hancock has winged that he’s had an “absolute bucket of s*** poured over his head” for the 18 months after The Sun revealed his affair.

He cheated on his wife with Gina Coladangelo, 43, as Covid gripped Britain while millions were unable to see their families.

Now the former Health Secretary is appealing for “forgiveness” for breaking Covid rules and has insisted he is “only human”.

It comes after he came third in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here while attempting to revive his image after cheating on his wife.

Matt, 44, who has three children, had the Tory whip removed after accepting the £400,000 deal from ITV to appear in the jungle.

And he couldn't keep his hands off Gina following their passionate reunion on the bridge last week.

Now the disgraced MP is shamelessly begging for Brits to forgive him.

Hancock also told how he and Gina have endured a "shockingly awful" 18 months since what he branded an "affaire de coeur [love affair]".

Speaking to the Mail after his stint on I'm a Celebrity, he said: "It's been absolutely horrific, especially for Gina.

"I've had an absolute bucket of s**t poured over my head."

He admitted his political judgement was "off" but said he was "deeply in love" with the aide.

The MP added "I want forgiveness for the mistake I made, the failure of leadership at the end of the pandemic when I fell in love with Gina and I broke the guidance that I'd signed off.

"I want forgiveness for the human error I made… but I'm not asking for forgiveness for how I handled the pandemic.

"I woke up every single morning determined to do the very best I could in the most impossible circumstances until I needed to go to bed at night. I did that for 18 months.”

The Sun published video footage of Hancock and Gina passionately kissing his office as Covid gripped the UK in June last year.

During the time the video was taken socialising indoors was banned and Brits were being told to refrain from hugging loved ones.
