The assets of ex-Tory peer Michelle Mone and her husband Doug Barrowman have been frozen by a court order from the Crown Prosecution Service.
Their firm, PPE Medpro, is under investigation for its £200m NHS PPE contracts obtained via a VIP channel and is also being sued by the Health Department.
The Financial Times revealed that about £75m in assets, including various properties and bank accounts, are under restriction.
A representative for the couple acknowledged the freeze, stating it followed negotiations with the CPS and doesn't affect their broader business operations. They did not oppose the freeze, aiming to expedite proving their innocence.
Barrowman condemned the public discussion of the case, suggesting leaks from officials. The CPS denied leaking details.
Previously, Mone admitted to misleading the media about her firm's role but denied criminal wrongdoing. She compared her situation to that of Pablo Escobar due to asset freezing under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
PPE Medpro, with £60m profits from government deals, faces a £122m legal case from the Health Department over alleged contract breach and unjust profits. Despite millions of their gowns being unused by the NHS, the couple claims compliance with the contract, and PPE Medpro intends to contest the lawsuit.
