Firefighters Successfully Rescue Seven as Blaze Erupts in South London Flat
Emergency services respond swiftly to control fire in Upper Norwood, London; all seven rescued receive treatment on-site.
Seven individuals were successfully rescued from a flat in south London after a fire broke out early Wednesday morning.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) reported that approximately 60 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, which started in a block of flats on Church Road, Upper Norwood.
Firefighters employed a 32-metre turntable ladder to combat the fire, which was first reported at around 3:30 am.
The fire was contained to a portion of the first floor.
Crews from multiple fire stations, including West Norwood, Woodside, and Norbury, contributed to the efforts.
The individuals in distress were rescued using ladders and subsequently treated on-scene by the London Ambulance Service.
The fire has since been brought under control, according to the LFB.
In a related incident, Turkish authorities reported a devastating fire at the Kartalkaya ski resort hotel, approximately 170 kilometres northwest of Ankara.
The blaze, which occurred at the Grand Kartal Hotel, resulted in at least 76 fatalities and 51 injuries.
Four individuals, including the business owner, have been arrested in connection with this incident.
The cause of the fire, which broke out around 3:30 am on Tuesday, is currently under investigation.
