The relentless erosion in Hemsby, Norfolk, resulted in the demolition of the final home on its vulnerable cliff this weekend. This year alone, the village lost 1.8 metres (6ft) of its dune, prompting earlier evacuations and demolitions.
A resident's attempt to save his home by moving it across the road highlighted the community's determination. However, the accelerated erosion forced the demolition of the last house this weekend.
Despite these challenges, Hemsby's hopes for a sea defence scheme were dashed as costs rose from £15 million to £20 million. Local authorities, including MP Sir Brandon Lewis, predict more losses for the village.
