Donald Trump has ‘real chance’ to speak to Americans again
The upcoming impeachment trial of Donald Trump could see the former president speak to the American people for the first time in a long time after his de-platforming.
The Senate impeachment trial is set to begin on February 9 after the House voted for the one article of impeachment on January 13.
Witnesses for the trial have yet to be confirmed, paving the way for Mr Trump himself to be called to appear.
Former President Trump has been removed from many of his social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook since the January 6 Capitol riots over claims he had a role in inciting the violence.
Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen said given Donald Trump has been “de-platformed for a long time,” the Senate trial – if he is called as a witness – could be his “real chance to have Americans listening again”.
