Vareen C. Vanterpool-Nibbs tipped to be Supreme Court Registrar

Senior sources in the Governor’s Office familiar with the decision have confirmed to our news centre that Attorney-at-Law Vareen Cecilia Vanterpool-Nibbs will become the new Registrar of the Supreme Court.

She will replace Erica R. Smith-Penn who is now the Complaints Commissioner of the Virgin Islands (VI).

Mrs Vanterpool-Nibbs, an indigenous Virgin Islander, is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, having been called to the Bar in October 2003.

She worked for many years within the Attorney General’s Chambers of the Government of the VI, holding the offices of Crown Counsel, Senior Crown Counsel and Principal Crown Counsel (Civil).

The incoming Register of the Courts also served as the first in-house General Counsel of the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority, between June 2013- September 2016, during some of its most controversial times.

The post of Supreme Court Registrar was last held by Erica R. Smith-Penn, who is now the Complaints Commissioner of the Virgin Islands (VI).
