An additional 2,000 AstraZeneca vaccines has arrived in the British Virgin Islands.
The
vaccines arrived on August 31 as part of the United Kingdom government’s commitment to the territory’s vaccination programme.
The total number of
vaccines received from the UK to date now stands at is 37,040.
According to recent government media release, Acting Governor David Archer Jr said he believes this has contributed significantly to the overall health of residents.
“The UK’s commitment to the VI’s overall health is evident as we continue working together to ensure that our citizens are protected from the effects of the
Coronavirus. It is important to note that while we continue to receive assistance, we must do our part and take the
vaccine so that we can continue to receive assistance,” the Acting Governor stated.
Health Minister Carvin Malone who was also present to receive the shipment expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for their continued assistance.
