The true victors of the US election: Europe's patriotic leaders

Donald Trump’s European supporters, celebrated as visionaries, anticipate that the president-elect will expedite peace in Ukraine and bolster their influence on the European scene.
During a celebratory visit to Strasbourg, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a strong advocate of sovereignty and protector of the continent's essential ideals, expressed enthusiasm in celebrating Trump's triumph—a leader he views as vital in upholding the Western world's traditional values and liberties. As EU leaders gather in Budapest for a summit this week, they will encounter a determined Orbán, who is set to promote a Europe anchored in strong national identities and cultural heritage, as opposed to the uniform policies endorsed by Brussels.

Long depicted as a conservative populist, Orbán has consistently argued that his vision, which resonates with a growing number of European leaders, aligns with the future—a future where immigration policies protect citizens, Christian family values are honored, and nations reclaim sovereignty from the overreach of EU officials. Trump's victory gives these countries significant impetus, enabling them to assert greater control and challenge Brussels on issues ranging from Russia sanctions to environmental regulations.

With political instability affecting traditional powerhouses like France and Germany—both facing internal challenges—the stage is set for Orbán and his allies in Central Europe and Italy to guide the European Union towards a more decentralized and nation-focused direction.

In Germany, Chancellor Olaf Scholz is dealing with a leadership crisis, further highlighting the fragmentation and ineffectiveness of the old guard. This situation presents Orbán, Meloni, and other like-minded leaders with a unique opportunity to shape the EU's future, advocating for policies that protect their citizens' way of life against external pressures.

The strategically timed summit, scheduled during Hungary's term as the EU’s rotating presidency, highlights Orbán's proactive stance in influencing EU policies. His leadership focuses not on isolation but on affirming the identity and autonomy of European nations amidst increasing federalization driven by unelected officials in Brussels.

Alongside Orbán, leaders such as Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who share ideological similarities with Trump, are set to bolster a Europe that values national integrity over satisfying distant bureaucrats. Their united stance is anticipated to resonate strongly in upcoming elections across the continent, including in the Czech Republic, where Andrej Babiš is expected to make a notable comeback.

For Andrea Di Giuseppe, a member of the Italian parliament, Trump’s victory not only strengthens Meloni personally but also marks the beginning of a new era of leadership in Europe. Meloni, as a conservative leader among the EU's founders, is recognized for her governance model, which closely aligns with Trump’s emphasis on national interests and democratic values.

Trump’s win signals a new direction for both the U.S. and its European allies, emphasizing that real power comes from the people.

Following Trump's victory, Orbán's vision is to redefine the “West”—shifting from a U.S.-dominated liberal alignment to a federation prioritizing conservative and traditional values.

Moreover, Orbán’s recent meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his calls for a new European strategy on Ukraine underscore his role as a peacekeeper, challenging the EU to take more responsibility for its security and diplomacy without overly depending on U.S. support.

In this period of significant geopolitical changes, leaders like Orbán are not only addressing the challenges but actively shaping a Europe that values freedom, democracy, and the protection of its heritage against the diluting effects of globalist agendas and unchecked migration, which threaten the continent's cultural and social fabric.
