King Charles Plans Significant Role for Prince Harry in Coronation

Royal sources indicate King Charles is planning a central role for Prince Harry and his family in the upcoming coronation, potentially as a gesture of reconciliation.
Plans for King Charles's coronation are reportedly underway, with the monarch intending to grant Prince Harry and his family a prominent role in the ceremony.

Sources close to the royal household suggest this is part of a concerted effort to reintegrate the estranged prince into the family.

The 76-year-old monarch is said to be determined to bring his son back into the fold, even if it occurs after his death.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly included in the 'highest level' of planning and will participate in key events.

The King also hopes Prince Harry will walk alongside his brother, Prince William, as the new monarch during the procession.

However, a palace representative clarified that the coronation plans do not indicate an imminent decline in the King's health.

Events of this nature are planned years in advance and require extensive preparation.

The plans are regularly updated and involve meetings with representatives from the royal household, police, military, and the Church.

Further ahead, plans are also in place for the King's 80th birthday celebration in 2028.

While funeral traditions typically remain consistent, the royal family members included in the coronation can adapt the protocols according to their beliefs and preferences.

The period of mourning following Queen Elizabeth II's death lasted nearly three weeks, and King Charles is expected to shorten the period following his own death to 10-11 days.

He is also likely to aim to minimize costs and resources.

If reconciliation depends on Prince Harry, a family truce is considered valuable while the King is still alive.

Most recently, Prince Harry sent invitations to his brother, Prince William, for the Invictus Games in 2027.

The Invictus Games, a Paralympic sporting tournament for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women initiated by Prince Harry in 2014, is considered one of his most significant achievements.

A source close to the prince stated that he hopes his father will agree to overcome their differences and attend the games to support the servicemen and women.

The tournament is scheduled for 2027, and the invitations were sent two years in advance to ensure availability.

The last public appearance of Prince Harry with his family was at the funeral of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
