Suspect Arrested: Utah Man in Custody for Charlie Kirk’s Fatal Shooting
Tyler Robinson, identified as lone gunman, detained after bolt-action rifle and inscribed casings link him to Kirk assassination
Tyler James Robinson, age twenty-two and from Utah, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist.
The arrest followed a manhunt of about thirty-three hours.
Authorities say Robinson either confessed or implied responsibility to a family member, who informed law enforcement.
This sequence of events has been confirmed by state and local officials.
Robinson is believed to have acted alone.
No evidence has yet emerged of accomplices.
Investigators recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle, reportedly a Mauser, in a wooded area near the Utah Valley University campus matching descriptions given in early accounts.
Amid the evidence, bullet casings inscribed with mocking and politically charged phrases were found at the scene.
Messages included “Hey fascist, catch!,” “Bella Ciao,” and other provocative engravings.
Robinson’s roommate also showed law enforcement messages from Robinson’s Discord account referencing retrieving a rifle from a drop point.
Robinson was not a student at Utah Valley University.
He is reported to have lived with his family in Washington County.
The governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, confirmed that there is, at this time, no indication of additional suspects.
The killing of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, occurred during a public event at the University, prompting national outcry and concern over political violence.
