State all your business with gov’t! COI writes to Skelton Cline

The Commission of Inquiry (COI) has written to government consultant Claude Skelton Cline requesting him to disclose details of any business he and his companies has had with the government in the last three years.

The VIP administration had hired Skelton Cline’s company, Grace Consulting on a $144,000 contract which was scheduled to run from September 18, 2019 to August 17, 2020. And in a recent interview with 284 Media, Skelton-Cline revealed that he was being retained by the government to carry out two additional projects.

During his radio programme Honestly Speaking on Tuesday, Skelton Cline said the COI this month requested details of any arrangement he or his companies has had with the government, “whether paid or unpaid”.

He’s also been asked to provide all correspondence — whether formal or informal — between himself and the government to include tender documents, emails, texts, and WhatsApp messages.

Provide evidence of products and services

Skelton Cline is also being asked to supply the COI with evidence of service and products provided to the government and details of payments made to Grace Consulting.

According to Skelton Cline, he received two letters from the COI which said disclosure of these documents are voluntary. However, should he decline from sharing the information, he is required to explain why. And at that point, the COI will use its discretion on whether to exercise its “powers of compulsion”.

The government consultant and public supporter of governing Virgin Islands Party said he has not handed over any documents.

“I ain’t gonna send them until I hear from my main attorney as to what I should do … Why are you contacting me when the government has the information?” Skelton Cline stated.

He further described that COI abuse and overreach from the UK, adding that it is “designed to intimidate” and is Britain’s “an attempt for takeover”.
