Severe Traffic Disruption on M25 Due to Lorry Fire
A serious lorry fire on the M25 has caused 12 miles of congestion with two-hour delays. The incident affected areas between junction five near Sevenoaks and junction six near Godstone. Despite the fire being extinguished early in the morning, delays and roadworks are ongoing.
A 'serious' lorry fire on the M25 has resulted in 12 miles (19.3km) of congestion, affecting traffic with delays of about two hours.
The fire occurred between junction five near Sevenoaks, Kent, and junction six near Godstone, Surrey.
Surrey Police reported the incident at around 01:30, and the fire was extinguished by 03:15 according to Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
Despite the removal of the lorry's load by 09:15, severe delays persisted, particularly affecting the A25 through Sundridge, Oxted, and Godstone.
Westbound traffic on the M26 leading up to the M25 also faced delays of about 45 minutes.
Recovery and resurfacing work is planned to be completed overnight with all lanes expected to reopen during the day.
