Princess Diana's First Job Application: 17-Year-Old's Contract with Solve Your Problem Ltd. Expected to Sell for $10,000 at Auction
A work contract signed by Princess Diana, then known as Diana Spencer, before her marriage to Prince Charles is expected to be sold for $10,000 at auction in the UK.
The contract, filled out in 1979 when she was 17, is from the elite nanny agency Solve Your Problem Ltd. Diana did not specify the type of work she was seeking or how much she wanted to be paid.
It is speculated that she may have listed her birth year as 1960 instead of 1961 to secure a job faster or receive higher pay.
A document believed to be Princess Diana's first official work contract, estimated to sell for $10,000, is being auctioned off.
Andrew Stowe of Auctioneum Ltd described it as an "incredibly important piece of history," noting the significance of getting one's first job, especially for someone as famous as Princess Diana.
The document may contain an altered date of birth, leading Stowe to speculate that it was done intentionally to make Diana appear older and more marketable.
However, it could also be a simple error.
A few weeks after moving to London, an unspecified young woman, believed to be Princess Diana, signed her first official work contract.
The document, from the late 1970s or early 1980s, lists her address as Cadogan Place SW1, where she temporarily resided before moving to Colherne Court, Kensington.
The contract does not reveal the type or pay for the work she was seeking, only that she wanted employment "as soon as possible." The jobs she was to undertake included work as a nanny, mother's help, and child carer.
