President Cortizo will travel to Scotland in November to address immigration issues with other leaders

President Cortizo will travel to Scotland in November to address immigration issues with other leaders

"More than 100 presidents are going to attend and it is very likely that I will have the opportunity to speak with different presidents of the area who are involved in this issue," Cortizo said.
The president of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, reported this Friday that at the beginning of November he will make a trip to Scotland, to attend the Summit on Climate Change in Glasglow.

The Panamanian president considers that this meeting, in which several heads of state will participate, would represent an opportunity to dialogue on the immigration issue.

"More than 100 presidents are going to attend and it is very likely that you will have the opportunity to speak with different presidents of the area who are involved in this issue and even with the president of the United States. This has an effect on the region, it has a It has an effect in Panama, it has an effect at this time in the United States, which is not an election year, so it is an issue that must be discussed very clearly with fellow presidents, ”said Cortizo.

He explained that on this issue, the presidents, foreign ministers and all the institutions of these countries linked to the migration issue must sit down and take concrete measures, using as an example the visa, which should be carried by each person who arrives in the country.

“I understand the Human Rights issue, but in Panama we have many people that we have to attend to and especially now in a pandemic and Panamanian resources are very limited, so we have to agree to make decisions that can be very drastic, but We have to send a message and the message cannot be a very soft message, I go back and repeat, we respect human rights, the rule of law, but I have a responsibility to Panamanians and Panamanians, "said President Cortizo.

It is worth mentioning that from October 31 to November 12, 2021, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change COP26 will take place at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, under the organization of the United Kingdom in collaboration with Italy.
