Port users must now register access facilities! You have 2 weeks
The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has announced that after April 8, persons will only be able to access port facilities if they are fully registered and licensed to do transactions.
As such, the BVIPA said the period of March 25 to April 8 is being allocated for the full registration and licensing of individuals such as agents and companies with commercial vehicles.
“After April 8th, only registered users will be allowed to access the port facilities. The application for registration can be collected at the ports’ Purcell Lobby and Pasea Place reception or accessed online through the BVIPA’s website,” a release from the BVIPA said.
The BVIPA also said the two-week period given for registration is an effort to further adjust its processes for more efficient port operations.
The BVIPA has been undergoing significant changes in recent times. Recently, the authority decided to implement fee increases in a “phased approach” starting March 15.
Amid the backlash, the BVIPA said the general increase in fees has become necessary for the provision of important upgrades to the operations of the ports.
It said these upgrades will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the ports to deliver on promised services.
