Musician Elle Músa shares her best beauty hacks and wellness routine

Australian songbird Elle Musa takes a natural approach to beauty. Here, she shares with us all her tips and tricks to beauty and wellness.

Australian songbird Elle Músa takes a natural approach to beauty. Her favourite skin toner? Apple cider vinegar. Her beauty hack? Jump in the ocean. Her favourite form of body maintenance? Activities that replenish her soul.

Here this musician, painter and creator shares with us her wellness routine, her favourite face sprays and her beauty icon.

What is your morning beauty routine?

I cleanse in the shower, tone my face with apple cider vinegar and then use a beautiful chocolate scented oil by living Libations and moisturise with either living libations or something else I am trying at the time. I mix Emma Lewisham's skinshield with my moisturiser for spf protection. When I am not lazy I will Gua Sha as well. For light makeup I use tint on my cheeks by RMS and lip balm by either Hurraw or Living Libations. When I am going out or doing something special I will wear a natural mascara, more blush and some RMS lip liner. I feel like I need to start covering up a bit more so I am trying out different concealers. Nothing seems to go well on my skin so I am yet to find the right thing. My favourite part is then to spray either rose water on my face or zinc water.

What is your night beauty routine?

I cleanse in the shower again or sometimes exfoliate with a peppermint scrub by living libations. I also love aliange cleanser and exfoliate so I should get back onto that soon. I then tone with apple cider again and use different products depending on how I feel. Some nights I will need a lot of hydration so I lather on a rose moisturiser by Living Libations or I will use Asea Renu to give my skin a bit of a break. I feel like I am so obsessed with skin care and want to get into more products for night time!

Describe what you do for a living? What does a typical day look like for you?

I write and create music and I am a painter. A typical day for me would be:

Exercise in the morning; Make a beautiful smoothie with berries; Reply to business emails and social stuff; Run some errands like posting art off and buying ingredients for dinner (also lots of chocolate); Choose either music or art to focus on that day; Music would be writing on the guitar/keyboard or recording demos; Art would be painting all day; By the arvo I feel quite tired and sometimes and can feel a bit anxious; So, lately I have either been walking on the beach alone or with my mum, exercising, reading or watching vlogs on youtube; Then at night I will make dinner for my partner and I or we will cook together (I love lentil bolognese at the moment and dhal with home made gf roti); Then I will either watch more vlogs or alien documentaries or read my book and fall asleep quite early haha; Amongst all of this I am trying to not be too addicted to my devices; And being as loving as I can to my boyfriend or whoever is around me that day.

What is the supermarket/ drug store/ chemist beauty product(s) that you use and love?

I don't really use much from Australian chemists, only really essential oils. When I am in France or Spain I always buy Quinton Isotonic water. It is great to drink to keep you hydrated after flying or I use it as eye drops. And I really want to try that Micellar water everyone loves.

What is your main form of beauty body maintenance? What products do you use on your body?

I am really into natural things for food, medicine, products and lifestyle. As above I use: Apple Cider Vinegar, products by Living Libations, aliange, Emma Lewisham, RMS etc. For soap I love good old Bronners and I wash my hair with this amazing shampoo that is a local brand on the Sunshine Coast- EverEscents. The best maintenance for me is exercise, swimming in the ocean, keeping as happy as a can, eating healthy and limiting phone and computer use.

How do you keep fit/ healthy? Does exercise form a large part of your routine?

I keep fit and healthy with my clean diet, exercise, swimming in the ocean and doing things that replenish my mood and soul.

What cosmetic procedures/ professional treatments do you have as part of your beauty routine?

At the moment I don't have any but I would love to start getting laser done and light therapy for my skin and acupuncture.

What do you do when your body needs to recover?

I take a day off working and try to relax as much as I can by going to the beach, reading, watching movies or just being present with my bf. I also love going to bookstores.

You’re tired or rundown: what is your beauty hack?

I will always wash my hair, swim in the sea (if I am near one), drink lots of water, lots of blush and facial sprays.

What is the one non-negotiable in your beauty routine?

Toner and oil to get the dirt off my face.

Do you have a beauty icon? Who are they and why?

Oooh I have many but for the moment I am loving Devon Lee Carlson for her natural beauty and gorgeous personality, Bella Thomas is an absolute goddess, and Jeanne Damas because French style is my favourite.

What is the best advice on beauty you’ve received?

You look the most beautiful when you are smiling.

What is the best advice on health you’ve received?

Drink the best quality water that you can access. (I use an epic reverse osmosis filter).

What is the one product you can’t live without?

Eek, I am obsessed with them all. I would say- lip balm.
