London businesses, particularly those in the Knightsbridge area, are calling for changes to Sunday trading rules in the capital.
The Knightsbridge Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) believes that relaxing Sunday trading regulations could generate £300 million annually and create around 2,000 jobs.
They argue that longer opening hours would attract more shoppers, including tourists, and boost the economy. However, small business owners are concerned about competition from larger stores if Sunday trading is extended.
While some politicians support the idea, the government has stated that there are no plans to change the Sunday Trading Act, which restricts trading hours for larger stores on Sundays.
