King Charles I of Britain celebrated his first official birthday parade as sovereign on June 17, 2023, by riding on horseback to inspect soldiers in the "Trooping the Colour" ceremony.
This tradition revives a tradition that his mother, Queen Elizabeth, gave up in 1986.
The ceremony was attended by
Prince William, Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and Anne, Princess Royal, who rode on horseback alongside Charles.
The Queen and the Princess of Wales followed in a carriage.
The colour trooped in the ceremony belongs to the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.
Charles was due to return to Buckingham Palace with his family to watch a fly-past of around 70 military aircraft and helicopters.
The clear skies allowed for a full air display, including Typhoon fighters and Red Arrows.
The C-130 Hercules, which is retiring after almost 60 years of service, also took part in the parade.
Trooping the Colour marks the official birthday of Britain's monarch and is usually held in June, while Charles's actual birthday is in November.
