British Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Terrorist Activities in Syria
A British man named Shabazz Suleman, from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, was sentenced to life in prison by a UK court for fighting with the terrorist group Daesh in Syria.
He had disappeared while on a family holiday in Turkiye in 2014 and was later detained by Turkish forces.
He claimed to be disillusioned with Daesh within a year and was jailed by the group for refusing to fight.
He was later released after agreeing to join Daesh's security wing Amniyat.
He was captured again by Turkish-backed forces in 2017 and returned to the UK in 2021, where he was detained.
He pleaded guilty to preparing acts of terrorism and was sentenced to life with a minimum of nine-and-a-half years.
The court heard that he had celebrated the deaths of journalists and posted images of alleged spies being beheaded and crucified by Daesh.
