Investigation Launched After Fireworks Go Awry at Caerphilly School Event
An investigation is underway following a fireworks display mishap at Derwendeg Primary School in Hengoed, Caerphilly county.
Spectators at the school's fireworks display reported that the event went wrong, with fireworks flying into the crowd, causing panic and distress among attendees.
Eyewitnesses described shrapnel flying everywhere, and some fireworks ended up in nearby houses and cars. Fortunately, no injuries or damage were reported.
Caerphilly council has confirmed that a health and safety investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.
