Footballers and fans dive for cover after swarm of bees invade stadium
Some of the players dropped to the ground after spotting the bees.
Images from the game showed scared footballers dropping to the ground and running away after a swarm entered the Uhuru Stadium, in Dar es Salaam, on the weekend.
Local teams Young Africans and Iringa United had been fiercely contesting a game but quickly abandoned it when they were threatened with being stung, the BBC reported.
The officials and supporters also hit the deck to avoid the bees which seemed to be everywhere.
The referee halted the game in the 53rd minute following the invasion and waited until the bees had left before he restarted it.
Unfortunately, some players were stung and had to be treated.
The game eventually restarted following the delay and Young Africans stormed to a 4-0 victory over their rivals.
In the end most people at the stadium were able to have a laugh at the incident.
