British PM Rishi Sunak Paid More Than 500,000 Pounds In Tax Last Year
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak paid £508,000 in taxes last year, significantly exceeding his government salary due to substantial investment income.
Sunak, known as the wealthiest ever British PM, benefited from his previous financial career and his wife's family wealth (her father founded Infosys).
His accountants' report revealed that while his combined earnings as an MP, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister totaled £139,000, he earned £2.1 million from investments, with capital gains accounting for £1.8 million.
Sunak voluntarily disclosed his financial details, aiming for transparency. The majority of his tax payment was due to capital gains tax. Critics, however, found Sunak's recent £1,000 public bet over a government policy in poor taste, contending that it demonstrated a disconnect from the average voter.
