West Yorkshire Police: 24 'Sexual Predators' Jailed for Abhorrent Abuse of Girls (Up to 30 Years)
In West Yorkshire, 24 individuals, referred to as "sexual predators," have been sentenced to jail terms of up to 30 years for sexually exploiting girls.
The abuse involved rape and trafficking offenses and was described as "extremely abhorrent" by police.
The investigations, which focused on Batley and Dewsbury areas, resulted from the sexual abuse of eight girls in north Kirklees between 1999 and 2012.
Reporting restrictions were lifted following the latest sentencing of seven men at Leeds Crown Court, with four of these men receiving sentences exceeding 20 years.
West Yorkshire Police arrested several men in late 2018 and charged them with rape offenses in December 2020.
The victims were treated as commodities and subjected to "absolutely shocking offending" and "appalling sexual abuse." The most egregious offender, Asif Ali, was found guilty of 14 rape offenses.
The victims, who are now adults, have bravely come forward to identify their abusers, allowing the police to take action against these men and their abhorrent behavior.
Reporting restrictions have been lifted, allowing the disclosure of sentences for individuals convicted of sexual offenses.
Khurum Raziq, a 42-year-old man from Heckmondwike, was sentenced to 22 years in prison for committing eight offenses of rape.
