Prominent UK Orchestra Conductor Faces Charges for Child Sex Offenses
Prominent British conductor Jan Latham-Koenig, known for his international achievements and cultural contributions, faces child sexual offence charges, according to London's Metropolitan Police.
Latham-Koenig, who notably led a Russian opera and was honored with an OBE in 2020, was arrested and charged with arranging a child sexual offence and engaging in sexual communication with a child.
He particularly made his mark by directing the Moscow premiere of Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde" with the Novaya Opera, reviving the company's standing after a period of decline. He is scheduled to appear in court in Westminster, London.
