Kensington Palace has announced that the Princess of Wales has invited families affected by the tragic Southport knife attack to her annual Together At Christmas carol service.
This year marks the fourth such event, scheduled for 6 December at Westminster Abbey.
The invitation comes after a challenging year for Princess Catherine, who has recently returned to public duties following her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment.
Last month, the Princess, alongside
Prince William, visited Southport to meet privately with families mourning the loss of three children—Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9—who were killed on 29 July, 2024, at a children's dance group.
The royal visit aimed to offer support and compassion, as conveyed by royal sources.
The carol service, supported by the Royal Foundation, will include around 1,600 invited guests, such as members of the Royal Family and individuals recognized for their contributions to supporting others through work or volunteering.
These honorees are nominated by charities linked to the Royal Family or by lord lieutenants.
Musical performances will feature artists like Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter.
The event will also be part of a special broadcast on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
Additionally, fifteen other Together At Christmas services will occur across the UK, including venues like the Royal Cornwall Hospital and Blackpool Tower Circus.
Kensington Palace emphasized this event as a time to reflect on the importance of love and empathy, especially during difficult times, and to celebrate individuals who tirelessly support those in need.
