Lucy Connolly, 41, from Northampton, has been bailed after being arrested for a race-hate post calling for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire. Lucy Connolly, 41, from Northampton, and wife of a Tory councillor, was bailed pending inquiries after she called for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire.
She was arrested on Tuesday night on suspicion of inciting racial hatred, following a now-deleted post on her X account.
The post was made after the murders of three schoolgirls in Southport on 29 July, with misinformation circulating that the suspect was a 'Muslim migrant.' Connolly later apologised, admitting she acted on false information.
Her husband, Raymond Connolly, vouched for her character, noting her emotional reaction to the murders and her care for children from various backgrounds.
The website childcare.co.uk has suspended Connolly from advertising her childminding services.
