Man Sentenced to Life for Murder of Ex-Girlfriend in Croydon

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment following the murder of his ex-girlfriend in Croydon, South London.
Hussain Haron, 24, from Mitcham, was found guilty of killing Felecia Cadore, 29, at her home on June 9, 2023. The conviction was announced at Snaresbrook Crown Court after a six-day trial.
On the day of the incident, Metropolitan Police were dispatched to an altercation at a residence on Grenaby Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Ms. Cadore suffering from multiple stab wounds.
She was promptly taken to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries five days later.
Evidence presented in court detailed how Haron had unlawfully entered the property through a window in an attempt to confront Ms. Cadore.
Following a violent altercation, he used a knife to stab her.
Police apprehended Haron later that day, where he was found in possession of the weapon used in the attack.
During the trial, Haron asserted that he acted in self-defense, but the jury rejected this claim and subsequently convicted him of murder.
On Friday, he received a life sentence, with a minimum term of 20 years before eligibility for parole.
Detective Chief Inspector Craig Magee, who led the investigation, stated that justice had been served and highlighted the severe impact of violence against women and girls.
He acknowledged the efforts of police officers in gathering evidence and the bravery of witnesses who testified in court.
Magee expressed hopes that the verdict would provide some solace to Ms. Cadore’s family, who have endured significant trauma due to the crime.
