The British Polling Council (BPC) has confirmed that YouGov has fulfilled its commitments after reviewing a controversial poll commissioned by the Conservative Britain Alliance, which predicted a severe election loss for Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party.

The poll suggested that replacing Sunak with a leader who would reduce taxes and immigration could prevent such a loss.
The results, featured in the Daily Telegraph alongside an article by Lord Frost questioning Sunak's strategy, fueled discussions within the party, including an article by MP Simon Clarke advocating for Sunak’s replacement.
Concerns arose due to the cost of the poll, believed to be in the tens of thousands, and the identity of the commissioners. The BPC verified that YouGov had indeed identified the Conservative Britain Alliance as its client and adhered to BPC's requirements.
The BPC, an organization sustaining polling transparency with no formal enforcement power, ensures clients are revealed, though they need not be formally registered entities. Controversy surrounding this poll has led to calls for better disclosure regarding poll funders.
YouGov, under scrutiny, sought the BPC's guidance and has been reassured that it complied with rules. The poll itself faced criticism for a question comparing Labour's Keir Starmer to an unreal Tory leader on various policy issues, which Rob Ford, a political science professor, condemned as exceptionally poorly designed.
