Wrexham's Oldest Fan Arthur Massey Passes Away at 100
Arthur Massey, the oldest fan of Wrexham AFC, passed away at 100 years old. Massey starred in the Disney+ series Welcome to Wrexham and had supported the club since attending his first game in 1931. Arthur Massey, the oldest fan of Wrexham AFC and a star in the Disney+ series Welcome to Wrexham, died at the age of 100.
Massey, who first attended a Wrexham game at age seven in 1931, was featured on the show calling the club his 'idol.' The club's tribute announcement was made on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Massey’s daughter, Julie Birrell.
She posted: '14/3/24 - 8/8/24. RIP Dad,' accompanied by a broken heart emoji.
Wrexham AFC expressed its deepest condolences, stating, 'Forever a Wrexham supporter.' Tributes also came from actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, co-owners of Wrexham AFC, and Welcome to Wrexham producer Bryan Swarberg.
Additionally, Massey met King Charles in 2002 during a visit celebrating Wrexham's new city status.
His passing comes as the club prepares for their first League One game this Saturday following their promotion in April.
