His parents-in-law, who were in Gaza to visit a sick relative, have not been heard from since Friday morning, and they remain trapped in the territory amidst intense air strikes and Israeli tank incursions.

Yousaf reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire and expressed the collective worry faced by many worldwide who have loved ones in Gaza enduring bombardment. He emphasized the need for a ceasefire and the devastating impact on civilians in Gaza who are suffering for a situation they did not create.

Protests in support of a ceasefire took place in various cities across Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Dundee, with similar demonstrations occurring in cities across the UK. Many Palestinians living outside of Gaza have lost contact with their family members and are deeply concerned about their well-being.

The situation in Gaza has escalated with Israeli forces entering the territory, and the conflict has resulted in casualties and hostage-taking by Hamas.
