Vodafone UK CEO: Job Losses Not a Focus Yet in Merger Talks

Vodafone UK's CEO, Ahmed Essam, has stated in an interview with Sky's Ian King Live programme that it is too early to talk about job losses resulting from the merger with Three, as the deal is still subject to regulatory approval.

He acknowledged that some roles might be impacted by the merger, but added that there will be opportunities for reskilling and a lot of room for investment in the network.

The merger is expected to create a "best-in-class" 5G network and provide benefits to consumers, which is why Essam believes regulators will approve the deal.

The proposed merger will also test a new national security law as Three is owned by a Hong Kong-based company.

Essam expressed confidence that the merger will clear the legislative hurdle.
