VI records 1 new COVID-19 case on Tortola
The [British] Virgin Islands (VI) has recorded 1 new COVID-19 positive case on the main island of Tortola.
This was revealed by the Government in an update today, Saturday, November 28, 2020, via a social media.
Since October 25, 2020, the territory has been COVID-19 free and according to the update, the case was discovered in a returning resident who is now secured in quarantine.
The new case brings the VI’s COVID-19 statistics to 73 total confirmed cases inclusive of 1 death and 71 recoveries.
A total of 7,132 persons have since been tested for COVID-19 at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital since the start of the pandemic.
The case also comes as the territory is preparing to fully re-open its tourism sector on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, amidst strict COVID-19 returning policies.
