Kristel Candelario pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and child endangerment after leaving her daughter Jailyn without food or water last summer. She was condemned by the judge for her "ultimate betrayal," contrasting her lifetime incarceration with Jailyn's tragic confinement without basic needs.

The prosecutors detailed how Candelario discovered Jailyn unresponsive upon her return, prompting a police and fire department response that confirmed the child's death. Investigations showed the severe neglect during Candelario's vacation led to extreme dehydration.

Despite Candelario admitting her mental health struggles and seeking forgiveness, the harrowing scene of Jailyn in soiled conditions was cited as evidence of her neglect.

Candelario insisted she had been forgiven by God and her daughter, but the court upheld her life sentence for the irreversible harm caused to her child.
