Six Lighthouses to be Given Away by US Government in Effort to Preserve History

The US Government is giving away six lighthouses as part of an effort to preserve historic buildings, even as technology makes them obsolete.

These lighthouses will be given to federal agencies, state and local governments, nonprofits, educational organizations, and community development groups at no cost.

Four lighthouses will also be put up for public auction, allowing anyone the opportunity to own a piece of American maritime history.

The goal of these transfers is to ensure that these historic buildings are preserved and continue to serve as important landmarks and symbols of American history and innovation.
