US and Europe Consider Easing Restrictions on Ukraine's Long-Range Strikes

The US is reviewing its restrictions on Ukraine's long-range weapon use against Russia, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussing the matter with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This comes as the UK ends direct air services with Iran for supplying missiles to Russia, while Germany and France prepare new sanctions. Russia claims significant advances in Eastern Ukraine, and Ukraine is strengthening its power imports ahead of winter. Meanwhile, Ukrainian diplomats seek to cancel a documentary at a Canadian film festival, which they believe is Russian propaganda.
President Joe Biden stated that the US is currently reviewing its restrictions on Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russia.

The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to discuss this matter with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy during his visit to Ukraine.

The issue stems from Britain and France supplying Storm Shadow and SCALP-EG cruise missiles to Ukraine, which involve US technology that has been restricted for strikes inside Russian territory.

The rethink comes as the UK terminates direct air services with Iran amid allegations of Iran supplying missiles to Russia.

Meanwhile, Germany and France plan new sanctions on Iran.

In military updates, Russia claims to have advanced significantly in Eastern Ukraine, while Ukraine continues to hold its positions in key areas.

Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin suspects a senior Russian Air Force commander of ordering a strike on a Kyiv children’s hospital in July.

Ukraine is also working to boost its power import capacity in anticipation of a harsh winter.

Additionally, Ukrainian diplomats urge the cancellation of a documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival, which they claim serves as Russian propaganda.
