Unilever Plummets in a $2.5 Billion Free Fall, to begin with: A Reckoning for Misuse of Corporate Power Against National Interest

Unilever, the mammoth Anglo-Dutch corporation, has found itself caught in the throes of a devastating financial hurricane, as a consumer reaction to Unilever’s Ben& Jerry’s utilizing the money they get from the public to promote Anti USA propaganda and against the interest of the American people.

The company's market capitalization tanked by an eye-watering $2.5 billion, plunging from $133.5 billion to a measly $131 billion in just two days. This financial debacle comes on the heels of its subsidiary, Ben & Jerry's, launching an inflammatory campaign against American national heritage. The public, justifiably incensed, calls into question the dubious ethics of employing shareholder funds in a cavalier manner that goes against the national interest.

Ben & Jerry’s, which is owned by Unilever, made headlines with its audacious July 4th message. The Vermont-based ice cream maker called for the U.S. to return “stolen Indigenous land,” taking specific aim at Mount Rushmore. It further added insult to injury by portraying the American leaders engraved on the monument as despoilers of Indigenous cultures.

Unilever's imperviousness to the gravity of this communication reflects a level of insensitivity and irresponsibility that is astounding. By allowing Ben & Jerry's to continue its political and social crusades unchecked, Unilever, a public company entrusted with shareholder funds, effectively endorsed a campaign that many view as an assault on American values and history.

Twitter was aflame with exasperated citizens expressing their outrage. Ben & Jerry's was lambasted for its unpatriotic and ill-timed denunciation, with comparisons to Bud Light’s marketing missteps. Many called for an immediate boycott of Ben & Jerry's products.

Adding to Unilever’s growing list of questionable moral choices is its continued operations in Russia despite the country's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, which prompted widespread international condemnation and economic sanctions. While hundreds of Western companies responded by pulling out of Russia, Unilever cited concerns about abandoning its employees and assets as the rationale behind its decision to stay. However, this rings hollow when juxtaposed with its subsidiary's eager willingness to burn bridges with the American public.

It's high time Unilever takes a long, hard look in the mirror. The company must grapple with the consequences of its apathy and reckless stewardship of public funds.

Shareholders, customers, and the wider public are calling for accountability and corporate responsibility. The resounding message is clear: Corporations like Unilever, who wield immense power and influence, must exercise caution and respect towards the societies they operate in. The $2.5 billion that evaporated from Unilever's market cap should serve as a grim reminder that there is a cost to pay for corporate arrogance and shortsightedness.

Anyway, if you are against USA and want it to fall apart, keep buying Unilever’s products. But, If you do not want to fix America by destroying it, welcome to the club. Buy your good that has no Unilever’s sign on them.
