Ukrainian President Dismisses Ambassador to UK After Criticism of Handling of UK Defence Secretary's Comments

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has terminated the appointment of the nation's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Vadym Prystaiko, just days after the diplomat criticized Zelenskyy's response to comments made by the UK Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace.

The Ukrainian presidency's website confirmed the dismissal, but did not specify the reason for the move.

The tension between the two leaders began during the recent NATO summit in Lithuania, where Wallace suggested that Ukraine had not expressed sufficient "gratitude" for Western financial support.

In response, Zelenskyy was quoted as saying that he was "nonplussed" by Wallace's remarks and that he did not know how to properly thank the UK for its support.

Prystaiko was then interviewed about the exchange and conceded that there was "a little bit of sarcasm" in Zelenskyy's response to Wallace.

He also stated that the Ukrainian government should work together with the UK to counter Russian aggression, and that Wallace could call him directly if he had any concerns.

Zelenskyy's decision to fire Prystaiko has raised concerns about the President's commitment to diplomatic protocol and his ability to work effectively with other countries.

Prystaiko's criticisms of Zelenskyy's handling of the situation with the UK have also highlighted the growing rift between the President and his diplomatic team.
