Ukrainian Ambassador to UK Dismissed After Criticizing President Volodymyr Zelenskiy

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine has terminated the appointment of Vadym Prystaiko as Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom, just days after the envoy publicly criticized the President.

According to a presidential order, Prystaiko has also been removed as Ukraine's representative to the International Maritime Organization.

The order did not provide any reason for the dismissal.

Prystaiko's criticism of Zelenskiy came in an interview with Sky News last week.

The ambassador was responding to remarks by outgoing British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, who suggested that Ukraine should show more gratitude for weapons deliveries from its allies in the fight against Russian-occupying forces.

In his interview with Sky News, Zelenskiy stated that Ukraine was always grateful to Britain, a staunch ally.

He also reportedly said that Wallace could let him know how to express his gratitude or how "we could get up in the morning and express our words of gratitude to the minister." Asked whether Zelenskiy was being sarcastic, Prystaiko told Sky News that there was "a little bit of sarcasm" when the President "said that each and every morning he will wake up and call Ben Wallace to thank him." Prystaiko added that he did not believe that this sarcasm was healthy, and that the Russians "have to know that we're working together." The presidential order did not specify who would replace Prystaiko, a 53-year-old experienced diplomat and former vice prime minister who had served as ambassador to Britain for three years.

The move has raised concerns about the state of Ukraine's relationship with Britain and the potential implications for the country's ongoing conflict with Russia.

At the heart of the issue is the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.

Since then, fighting has broken out in the eastern Donbass region, with both sides accusing each other of aggression.

The conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life and has displaced thousands of people.

The international community, including Britain, has been a key supporter of Ukraine in its efforts to resist Russian aggression.
