The attack targeted civilian structures including schools, a maternity hospital, and residential buildings. This marks the most intense assault since the conflict's early days nearly two years prior.

Russia fired a record number of 158 missiles and drones, with Ukrainian forces intercepting 114. Russia's military claimed success in hitting all intended targets in Ukraine. Additionally, a Russian missile briefly entered Polish airspace, inciting NATO's solidarity with Poland.

Internationally, the strike has led to further commitments to support Ukraine militarily. The US is pushing for Congress to approve additional aid urgently. The UK pledged more air-defense missiles, reinforcing its long-term support for Ukraine. The EU condemned the attacks as "cowardly and indiscriminate."

The attacks spanned across multiple Ukrainian regions, with infrastructure damage and civilian casualties reported. Efforts to rescue individuals trapped under debris are ongoing, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
