On Sunday, Ukraine conducted its most extensive drone attack on Moscow since the war began in 2022.

At least 32 drones were launched, forcing the diversion of flights from Moscow's Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovo airports.

Russian air defenses intercepted the drones in the Ramenskoye and Kolomensky districts, as well as in Domodedovo city.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed the drones were destroyed and reported only one injury, with no significant damage.

Airports have since resumed operations, according to Rosaviatsia, the Russian aviation watchdog.

Moscow, alongside Istanbul as one of Europe's largest metropolitan areas, houses over 21 million people.

The Ramenskoye district, 45 km southeast of the Kremlin, was previously targeted by 20 drones in September.

Footage shared on Russian Telegram channels purportedly shows drones over Moscow's skyline.

Similar attacks were reported in the Kaluga, Bryansk, and Orlov regions.

Amidst ongoing conflict, both Russia and Ukraine are enhancing their drone capabilities for innovative warfare.

President Vladimir Putin has labeled attacks on civilian infrastructure as 'terrorism' and promised retaliation.

Despite the conflict, Moscow remains Russia's wealthiest city and continues to thrive economically.
