The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for snow and ice across northern Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday and Monday, with snow possible elsewhere.

Travel disruptions are likely due to snow-covered roads and railways in the warned areas, including potential delays for buses and trains. Shetland faces a yellow wind warning on Sunday, with gusts up to 75mph, possibly affecting transport and causing coastal spray and large waves.

The UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office have sent out an extended amber cold weather alert for various parts of England and a yellow alert for increased health risks, particularly among the elderly, those with health conditions, and the homeless. Checking on vulnerable individuals is urged.

Recent heavy rains have caused flooding in England, with numerous flood alerts active. Snow showers are expected in northern Scotland and along the North Sea coast early in the week, potentially extending to other populous areas. Up to 10cm of snow could accumulate on higher ground.

While Monday and Tuesday may be clear, cold air could clash with wetter conditions from the Atlantic by mid-week, making forecasts uncertain. Southern England could see disruptive snowfall on Wednesday.

Drivers should prepare for possible hazardous conditions by checking weather updates, maintaining their vehicles, and carrying essentials for emergencies.
