This potential prize, if won, would mark the largest lottery win ever recorded in the UK, as confirmed by National Lottery operator Allwyn.
Currently, the highest EuroMillions win by a UK player stands at £195 million, which was claimed by an anonymous ticket-holder on July 19, 2022. Not far behind, Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester won a historic £184,262,899 in May 2022, while a different anonymous winner took home £177 million on November 26, 2022.
The record jackpot of £182 million from a previous draw on Tuesday rolled over, as no player successfully matched the winning numbers.
This rollover has consequently elevated the prize for Friday’s draw, leading to increasing excitement among players.
Andy Carter, a senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, remarked on the significance of the upcoming draw, indicating that it could lead to the crowning of the National Lottery's all-time biggest winner.
The £202 million prize would surpass the wealth of various prominent UK celebrities, including musicians and sports figures.
In addition to the anticipated Friday night draw, the current year has already seen two substantial EuroMillions wins.
One lucky winner claimed £83 million in January, while another secured a £65 million jackpot in September.
As interest mounts for this potentially record-setting draw, ticket sales are expected to soar in the lead-up to Friday's draw.
