UK Police Search Two Properties Linked to Peter Mandelson Amid Epstein-Era Misconduct Probe
Metropolitan officers execute warrants at former Labour minister’s homes as investigation into alleged sharing of sensitive government information develops
British police executed search warrants on Friday at two properties associated with former senior politician Peter Mandelson as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into alleged misconduct in public office linked to his past connections with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Central Specialist Crime team carried out coordinated operations at addresses in Wiltshire and the Camden area of north London, seeking evidence in a probe that centres on whether Mandelson, now aged 72, improperly shared market-sensitive or government information with Epstein while serving in ministerial office.
The searches follow the release of millions of pages of court documents by the United States Department of Justice, which included emails and communications suggesting that, during the global financial downturn in 2009 and 2010, Mandelson forwarded internal government reports and other sensitive material to Epstein.
Police have not arrested or charged Mandelson in connection with the inquiry, and the force has maintained that identifying details are being withheld as is customary when no formal charges have yet been brought.
The investigation was launched after the UK government referred material to the Metropolitan Police, prompting a criminal probe into possible misconduct in public office.
In response to the unfolding revelations, Mandelson resigned from both the Labour Party and the House of Lords earlier this week, relinquishing his lifetime parliamentary seat amid mounting political pressure.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has since apologised to victims of Epstein and expressed regret over Mandelson’s diplomatic appointment, while government officials prepare to release more related records to parliamentary oversight bodies.
Detectives were observed entering Mandelson’s London residence during the searches, and inquiries continue as police assess electronic devices, documents and other material from both locations to establish the full scope of the alleged conduct.
