Frank Hester, who has donated 10 million pounds to the Conservatives, apologized for 2019 comments against Black MP Diane Abbott, which he insists were not racist or sexist in nature.

Following initial hesitation, Sunak's spokesperson condemned the comments as racist. Despite calls from opposition parties to return the donations, Sunak has deemed Hester's remorse sufficient. Business minister Kevin Hollinrake indicated the party might still accept future donations from Hester.

This controversy comes amid another incident involving former Conservative deputy chairman Lee Anderson, who faced suspension for comments about London's mayor, Sadiq Khan.

The internal issues within the party have led Labour leader Keir Starmer to criticize Sunak's leadership, especially as both parties prepare for an anticipated national election.
