Conservative MP Michael Gove has proposed a bill that would ban boycotts of Israeli goods and services by public bodies in the UK.

However, some members of his own party have expressed concerns about the bill, saying that it could undermine the UK's foreign policy and lead to a backlash against the government.

The bill is aimed at stopping local councils from supporting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which opposes Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.

The government has defended the bill, saying that public bodies should not pursue their own foreign policy agenda and that the taxpayer should not have to pay for foreign policy more than once.

However, several civil society groups have criticized the proposed law, including the International Center of Justice for Palestinians and Amnesty International.
