Thunberg, the notable 21-year-old Swedish environmental advocate, faced a public order charge after her arrest at a disturbance at a major oil and gas event, which she had denied. The judge concluded the police guidelines were too vague, rendering compliance failures non-offensive.

Thunberg, known for her school strike campaign for climate action beginning at age 15, partakes regularly in protests and was previously subjected to police action during other environmental demonstrations.

The court's dismissal has been celebrated by activists, with Greenpeace UK hailing it as a win for protest rights amid growing legal battles for climate protesters against the unchecked profits of fossil fuel companies.
