The cost of living crisis is ongoing and many people are struggling with food and energy prices.

In response, the government has been giving cost of living payments to help with these expenses.

In 2022, millions of households were targeted by scammers using the cost of living crisis to trick people into giving them money and personal details.

To avoid these scams, it's important to check if you are eligible for these payments through the government website.

From today, more than six million people with disabilities will begin receiving a one-off cost of living payment of £150.

The DWP will also distribute other cost of living payments such as £300 and £299 for certain benefits and tax credits recipients, a disability payment, winter fuel payment, and pensioner cost of living payment.

Eligible recipients will be paid automatically if they receive certain benefits or tax credits.

Universal Credit benefit may be reduced to £0 due to various reasons, including having more than one payment of earnings, increase in earnings or savings, starting to receive another benefit, or getting a sanction.

However, if the benefit is reduced to £0, one may still be eligible if money was taken off for other reasons or if they had a hardship payment due to inability to pay for rent, heating, food, or hygiene needs.
