UK Doctor Assists Mid-Flight Birth of 'Miracle' Baby

Dr. Hassan Khan, a Basildon Hospital physician from Essex, helped deliver a healthy baby girl mid-flight, transforming a routine journey from Amman to London into a remarkable event.

About two hours into the flight, Khan was called to aid a pregnant passenger in labour. Despite the challenge of a language barrier, with the help of a translator and without proper medical equipment, he expertly facilitated the birth, with the newborn initially showing signs of cyanosis.

The extraordinary 75th in-flight birth recorded on a commercial airline necessitated an unscheduled landing in Brindisi, Italy, for mother and child to receive hospital care. Dr. Khan, who missed his shift due to this diversion, was later commended for his exceptional service in the face of an unexpected situation.
